Natacha Atlas

The Arab-Western fusion diva, former Transglobal Underground member, and self-described "human Gaza Strip" will concentrate on music from her upcoming album Mounqaliba (meaning "a state of reversal"). Along with seeking a subtler way to blend Arabic classical music with European pop and folk, while decrying the tragic state of the world, Atlas manages to deliver suitably downbeat versions of Nick Drake's "Riverman" and Francoise Hardy's "La Nuit Est Sur la Ville."
