Food and comedy have long gone hand-in-hand—take, for instance, the old slip-on-a-banana-peel gag or the classic pie-in-the-face routine. Now, serving up laughs for a slightly more refined palate, improv and sketch comedians Brett Wean and Ben Masten have put together Foodstuff With Brett and Ben, a monthly culinary-themed variety show that brings together guests from the worlds of food, comedy, and music. Tonight, the comics host David Sax, author of Save the Deli: In Search of Perfect Pastrami, Crusty Rye, and the Heart of the Jewish Delicatessen, comedy duo Ninja Sex Party (we did say slightly more refined palate), and a surprise special musical guest who, according to the PIT website, is “a big enough deal that we’re not allowed to promote him.”
