Ah, summer nights in New York City, when the humidity evaporates just enough to enjoy a feel-good movie on a lawn or a rooftop—like The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, a happy-go-lucky romp through the subway system. The 2009 remake of the 1974 thriller screens as part of the Central Park Conservancy Film Festival, which presents movies with city landmarks as the stars. Other than last week’s chirpy Fame, the organizers are clearly going for a downtrodden and destructive New York view with the upcoming lineup of Saturday Night Feverand King Kong.
