New York–based arts collective 4heads specializes in bringing together artists from all over the world and presenting their work in unique spaces and innovative ways—and there’s no better place than Governors Island for such experimentation. The third annual Governors Island Art Fair features more than a hundred independent artists, and visitors will be free to roam the old Army barracks, where more than 120 rooms will display paintings, photographs, sculpture, videos, and sound and object installation pieces. Aside from the art show, which continues every weekend until the end of September, take in musical performances, interactive creative programs, eccentric performance artists, and whatever else may be happening on this very busy island.
