'Brooklyn Country Music Festival'

Entering its seventh year, the Brooklyn Country Music Festival doesn't water down its whiskey. "All acts are guaranteed to be local, original, and awesome," organizer Alex Battles states on tits Web site in a proudly honky-tonk font. Fifteen acts perform over three nights, and given the amount of cement surrounding them, it's not surprising that the city's often a big part of these people's country. The bill includes the carburetor country howl of Brooklyn's DeFiBulators, Jessica Rose and the High Life's tattooed torch songs, and the Woes' blend of folk, blues, and moody country sounds. The Brooklyn Jugs are reuniting on Sunday--there will be washboards--and Battles himself will take the stage, too. And if you have a hankering for old timey harmonies, acoustic picking, and calico fabric, check the Roulette Sisters on Saturday night. There's a barn burning in Brooklyn.
Sept. 10-12, 6 p.m., 2010
