Documentary theater-makers The Civilianshave turned everything from crazy Christians to misplaced items into subjects for musicals imbued with their signature style: funny and/or heartwarming acted-out interviews and ear-wormy pop. Now they apply their magic to the Ratner affair in Downtown Brooklyn with In the Footprint, opening in November. Catch a preview tonight in Let Me Ascertain You: Atlantic Yards, a cabaret showcase of music and interviews from the upcoming production. The audience is invited to participate; at the company’s last cabaret, they hosted a game of charades—so get ready to act out eminent domain’s pending destruction of a neighborhood.
