The SketchProv festival puts comics to the test

Today is the start of the SketchProv 2010 quarterfinals and the point that the annual comedy tournament really starts to get interesting: Sketch teams will be asked to do improv, and improv teams will be asked to do sketch (crazy, we know). The teams that earn the most audience votes advance to the finals on September 25, where they have to try their hand at the most daring kind of comedy of all: SketchProv, in which a team jots down audience suggestions on a pad and goes backstage to quickly hammer out the basic beats of a sketch to be improvised in full. Festival judges pick the final winner, who will receive $2,500 and a four-week run at the PIT.
