Now that you’ve finally gotten World Cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” out of your subconscious (though Fozzie Bear’s litigation is still pending), Shakiraand her inimitable hips are here to remind you. But the 50-million-plus selling songwriter (and, as some less delicate folks would put it, Colombia’s second most popular export) is the most talented and charming pop star on the scene, and has expertly handled her worldwide fame since releasing debut Magia at just 13 years old. English-language album Laundry Service, her 2001 contribution to the Latin crossover boom, remains her best-known effort in the States, though 2005’s Oral Fixation Vol. 2 spawned her most successful worldwide single, “Hips Don’t Lie.” Other dance starlets, take note: Shakira is your goal.
