It was 1985 and, oh, how badly we wanted to order a replica of Madonna’s leather jacket from Desperately Seeking Susan through a special movie offer on MTV. (Alas, that $1-a-week allowance didn’t cut it.) Starring Rosanna Arquette as a bored New Jersey housewife who is mistaken for Susan (Madonna) by a killer, the film is now a fun time capsule of New York in the ’80s (watch for Richard Hell). Tonight, Film Society at Lincoln Center throws a party in honor of its silver anniversary. After the screening, stay for a discussion about the making of the film (with special guests Arquette, Aidan Quinn, director Susan Seidelman, and screenwriter Leora Barish) and a party at Shun Lee West.
