BEAUTY AND THE BUNNYMAN

Don’t miss Christian Rizzo at the Kitchen

As a former fashion designer and rock musician, French choreographer Christian Rizzo knows how to do dance for a hip, style-savvy audience, from putting his performers in sky-high stilettos to incorporating Smiths lyrics into his works. His latest, b.c. , janvier 1545, fontainebleau, produced by his collective l’association, was created specifically for the lovely dancer Julie Guibert, who has also been the muse of world-renowned choreographers William Forsythe and Russell Maliphant. Taking inspiration from the 16th-century sculptor Benvenuto Cellini’s The Nymph of Fontainebleau, the piece combines cinematic staging, slow, stylized movement, and an ominous-looking “bunnyman” for what should be a compelling night of dance.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Sept. 30. Continues through Oct. 2, 2010
