Even if you haven't heard the Clean before, you know what they sound like; the droning lo-fi of this '80s New Zealand outfit has been copied by everyone from Pavement to Crystal Stilts. Finally reuniting in 2007 to play with their progeny, these last few years have found the Clean at ATP, the Primavera Festival, and Yo La Tengo's Hannukah concerts. 2009 saw the release of Mister Pop, their first album in eight years, flushed with the dreamy melancholy of tracks such as "Are You Really on Drugs?" Don't miss the chance to see them play Hoboken--like a solar eclipse, the Clean makes rare and scorching appearances. With Dump and Vermillion Sands.
