This year’s The Switch film festival is reaching through the cinema screen in an effort to convince audiences to make a real switch to sustainable living. The festival features documentaries examining some of today’s most poignant issues surrounding climate crisis, including The Age of Stupid, a combination documentary, drama, and animation set in the desolate world of the future; No Impact Man, a look at a year in the life of a New York family attempting to make zero net impact on the environment; and Crude, a legal drama dealing with the “Amazon Chernobyl” case. In addition to inspiring moviegoers to live greener, The Switch is also donating part of its proceeds to community organizations such as Grow NYC, No Impact Project, and Conversations With the Earth. Sponsored by 350, an international grassroots campaign for environmental sustainability, the film screenings will be held at IndieScreen and Tribeca Cinemas.
Sun., Oct. 10, 1 p.m., 2010
