Japan Dolphin Day 2010 is a rally around the world that aims to end the cruel practice of dolphin-drive fisheries. According to rally organizers, the Japanese government issues 23,000 permits annually to coastal communities to kill dolphins of several species. The majority of the pod is then slaughtered for meat, which is allegedly contaminated with huge amounts of mercury and other pollutants, exceeding the Japanese governments own health limits.
