My Morning Jacket

If you attend all of My Morning Jacket's concerts this week, you might just catch frontman Jim James ever-so-slowly dialing back the reverb on his amp. Over five nonconsecutive days at Terminal 5, indie rock's Louisville sluggers are playing their studio discography in its entirety, beginning tonight with 1999's Tennessee Fire. Few groups have transitioned quite so drastically as MMJ, beginning by playing what can best be described as a ghost-like negative world to Dinosaur Jr.'s apathy rock and now having become Lenny Kravitz-cum-jam band rockers. Now even Metallica's Kirk Hammett is a fan--yet somehow, they're still likeable.
