DEEP END

Take a dive into this existential work

Winner of the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award, Enda Walsh's Penelope, produced by Ireland's Druid Theater Company (The Walworth Farce), is now coming to St. Ann's for a three-week run. Based on the final chapter of Homer's The Odyssey, this Beckettian work concerns four men in Speedos who meet daily at the bottom of an empty pool to take turns wooing Ulysses' wife. Across the pond, the work received rave reviews from critics, including from one at The Sunday Times who said, "The delicate interplay of knockabout comedy, verbal humor, and philosophical themes is super." Mikel Murfi directs.
Saturdays, 2 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 24, 3 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Oct. 23. Continues through Nov. 14, 2010
