CALL ME ‘THE DUDE’

Can the real Lebowski please stand up?

Somebody get the Kahlúa—it’s time once again for the Lebowski Fest, the eighth annual event in which fans of the 1998 Coen Brothers comedy The Big Lebowski(they call themselves “achievers”) honor the SoCal slackitude of the film’s White Russian–loving star, “The Dude.” For those of you who have yet to be enlightened, you must come dressed as a character from the film—and the choices are rich: There’s a crippled philanthropist, a war veteran with PTSD, a slutty Tara Reid (‘nuff said), a slick/scary hairnet-wearing Latino bowler, a freaky abstract artist, a nerdy assistant, and, of course, The Dude. The night includes trivia games, a costume contest, and a bowling showdown between several of the best-dressed characters, as well as a performance by Diamondshake featuring Moby. Abide.
