WARPED BOOR

Punk rockabillies by any other name . . .

Hey—guess what?—Mike Ness is still alive and kickin’. More so, he’s the only original member of Social Distortion who can claim as much under their moniker; the Fullerton hardcore punk outfit’s ever-shifting lineup has really run the gamut since their ‘70s inception (you might even say it’s regularly Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell), but Ness’s howls for unattained maturity still chug-a-lug right along over the revolving door of rockabilly and cowpunk riffers, and the current lineup (Jonny Wickersham on guitar, Brent Harding on bass, and David Hidalgo Jr. on drums) is solid. Their next album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, has been pushed back to January 2011, so veer over to Roseland tonight to hear it first and hear it loudest.
