When not traipsing about the world deploying their multi-instrumentalist skills in Wilco, John Stirratt and Pat Sansone go for an even more mellow blend of early '70s countrified folk sounds (graced with pedal steel, echoey piano balladry, and gentle vocal harmonizing) as the Autumn Defense. Touring in support of their fourth album, Once Around, they have an exquisite opener in married duo Johnny Irion & Sarah Guthrie. The daughter of Arlo, Guthrie and Irion have a winsome album forthcoming in February produced by former Pernice Brother Thom Monahan and Vetiver's Andy Cabic. Warm room tones abound tonight.
