LIFE-SIZE DIETRICH

See a whole new Marlene

Who wouldn't want a life-size doll of bisexual German chanteuse Marlene Dietrich? It's already on our Christmas list—but only if it's wearing a tux. Skubik, in a partial tux, it seems, voices and operates the Dietrich doll, as well as the cabaret star's maid, Gloria. The fictional plot follows their co-dependent relationship during Dietrich's final days, in Paris. We already know how it ends—Dietrich died at age 90, in 1992—but thankfully the super-size siren lives on in the form of countless films, recordings, our devotion—and now a muppet. If only they made Dietrich blow-up dolls . . .
Thursdays-Saturdays, 10 p.m.; Sundays, 5:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 11. Continues through Nov. 21, 2010
