SCAVENGER HUNT

Visit the artists of Bushwick

Whoever coined the phrase "One person's trash is another man's treasure" must have been living in New York City. A group of artists have taken people's curbside belongings and turned them into "American Garbage," a group show at the Loom (1087 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-417-1616) that's part of the one-day art festival BETA Spaces (Bushwick Exhibition Triangle of Alternative Spaces). The festival and art walk features more than 50 shows, including the work of about 250 individual artists, in spaces ranging from galleries to studios to apartments to mobile trucks to—talk about modern art—SmartPhone apps (!). If you've yet to explore Bushwick much, it's the perfect chance to get to know the many new businesses in this new-old neighborhood.
