The 1900s' second full-length (just released) tightens the corners and aims to maximize the Chicago's combo's coed charms and flair for pep. It's got a bit of Belle & Sebastian, or a bit more of a bunch of other bands who love Belle & Sebastian. But that's just a point of fact nowadays, when well-appointed indie content such as Return of the Century is nearly a demographic unto itself. The 1900s cultivate their charms well: they look the part, sound the part, and regularly vocalize the mildly existential hand-wringing that seems to plague folks whose pearl snaps stay tarnished no matter how much they're buffed.
