Flute-wielding psychedelic sextet Bardo Pond have been playing mind-melted slow burners for close to two decades. And despite diving headfirst into jams live and being, uh, "taper friendly," they've somehow managed to sidestep the hippy-dippy trappings of psych rock. If anything, their lilting, melodic improve sessions make for a hypnotizing live experience. That flute goes a long way. With Pontiak, Crazy Dreams Band, Tom Carter/Mark Orleans Duo, Bad Dreams, and Silver Summit.
