In 2008, GQ named Uwe Boll the “Worst Director Ever,” mainly because three of his video-game-adapted films (House of the Dead, Bloodrayne, and Alone in the Dark) sucked really bad (see IMDb’s “Bottom 100” list). Did Boll deserve this title, or is every video-game movie doomed? Bad Videogame Movies: The Definitive History delves into this conundrum, with CollegeHumor’s Patrick Cassels and Jeff Rubin, who host Bleep Bloop, an online talk show devoted entirely to video games. All we can say is, if Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) can’t do the genre justice, then who can?
