“Within a minute, they seem to have trashed every female stereotype in rock and roll . . . I was amazed,” wrote Greil Marcus of the Raincoats in Rolling Stone in 1980. One of the first all-female post-punk bands of the late ’70s and early ’80s, the British foursome famously reunited in the ’90s after Kurt Cobain wrote passionately about the group in the liner notes for Incesticide. The group, who have performed only sporadically since then, re-released their eponymous debut album on Kill Rock Stars in 2009 in honor of its 30th anniversary. Tonight, they give a rare performance at MOMA’s PopRallyparty. The evening also includes an open bar and an exclusive viewing of the exhibition Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography. Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna does DJ duty.
