Seven contrasting movements make up the Byzantine breadth of Glenn Branca’s new work, Symphony No. 15: Running Through the World Like an Open Razor (Music for Strange Orchestra). Using a 12-piece ensemble and more than 100 instruments, the experimental composer will navigate immense sonic highs and lows, a reflection of his artistic process during his 30-year career and its 14 completed symphonies. His work—in flashes droning, sweeping, dynamically drastic—is not easy, but it’s been our city’s own for these years, and this world premiere is New York’s night.
