College hoops for a good cause
Kicking off the 2010–11 college basketball season, the 2K Sports Classicshowcases top-notch teams while benefiting a good cause. A collaboration of the National Associations of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, the 2K Coaches vs. Cancer events have raised more than $4.5 million to heighten awareness and reduce cancer risk through education programs. The great news for college hoops fans is that Pitt, Texas, Maryland, and Illinois, among others, will be on the boards at Madison Square Garden for the semifinals tonight and the championship doubleheader on November 19. Ticket prices are more than reasonable, as low as $10 each on Ticketmaster, with good seats on StubHub in the $35–$40 price range. (You’ll have a hard time beating that to see college roundball later in the season.)
