On their latest, We Sleep Outside, the sextet takes their abstractions seriously. Davis the bandleader has his team investigate the nooks and crannies that mark the work of Davis the composer. That tack should be a sweet adventure for this fresh ensemble, too; pianist Russ Lossing knows all about nuance, and bassist Eivind Opsvik has built a rep on subtlety. There might be some "down the rabbit hole" maneuvers tonight.
