He's been refining his solo stance of late (and redefining his art in the process), but the soprano saxophonist has always been superb at jazz's give 'n' take, especially when united with the mighty pianist Orrin Evans. Methinks the band he's built for this two-nighter should resound with plenty of physical interplay. Bassist Gregg August and drummer Rudy Royston have developed a keen dynamic working with JD Allen. It'll be fun to hear them push each other around.
