Earlier this year, it seemed as if LAByrinth Theater Company had become lost in a maze of its own devising. Rising costs had led them to give up their home at the Public Theater and internal division had caused them to name new artistic directors. But it seems they again have a clue as LAByrinth recently announced that a Broadway production, Stephen Adly Guirgis’s The Motherfucker With the Hat, will debut in the spring. In the meantime, they’ll host their 11th annual Barn Reading Series at the West Village’s Cherry Pit. The 14 new plays limn subjects such as alcoholism, illness, and Lawrence Welk. Happily, admission is free, and no minotaurs will appear.
