Young Kyle Hall spent his Detroit teen years impressing the masters of techno--he counts Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby, and Omar S. as mentors. But that shouldn't imply that he's imitating the old school; his organic techno is utterly unique. Lately, he's found another big-name fan via releasing dubstep-influenced tracks on Kode9's Hyperdub label. With more house and funky from London's Shortstuff and live 4AD-style pop from Laurel Halo, plus Rem Koolhaus, Contakt, Space Jam, Mayster, and C-Sick.
