Back in the day, photographer Jerry Schatzberg got around. He was the man behind the camera for such ’60s icons as Bob Dylan (he shot the cover for Blonde on Blonde), Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, and Aretha Franklin. But with more than a few relationships that straddled the line between personal and professional, he knew what it was like to be in front of the flash as well. Based on his real-life interviews with supermodel Anne St. Marie, his first film, Puzzle of a Downfall Child(1969), offers a disturbing and disorienting look at life in the fashion industry. Faye Dunaway stars as a former supermodel, explaining to her onetime lover and photographer what drove her to have a nervous breakdown. Tonight, Schatzberg will be in attendance to answer questions and sign copies of his book Women Then: Photographs 1954–1969.
