Dir. Claude Chabrol (1962).
Shifting mood in the nouvelle vague manner, Claude Chabrols precocious masterpiecere-released in an excellent new printdevotes most of its time to a quasi-documentary examination of four pretty young Parisiennes. The movie seems characterized by a surplus of incident and an absence of plot but, ultimately every haphazard digression comes to together in a trap as steely and implacable as any of the Hollywood thrillers that Chabrol admired.
