'Basic NYC Presents Derrick May'

Alongside Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson (collectively the suburbanites were known as the Belleville Three), Derrick May made Detroit techno a global force. He cofounded the legendary Music Institute, helmed Transmat Records, and is responsible for that quip about techno sounding like George Clinton and Kraftwerk meeting in an elevator. In "Strings of Life" and other classics, May created some of the most moving, emotive music the genre has offered. He hasn't produced a record in years, but his DJing is as personal as ever. With residents Sleepy & Boo plus Dmitri.S and Butch Wells.
