GOING FOR GELT
Spin to win a year’s supply of chocolate
Yeah, those folks at Yeshiva University who recently broke the Guinness World Record for the most dreidels spun simultaneously (618 dreidels for 10 seconds straight!) were great and all. But why share dreidel glory with hundreds of other people when you can be declared the one and only best spinner at the 2010 Major League Dreidel Tournament? All of the action takes place inside the Star of David–shaped “stadium” called the Spinagogue (oy!), where the person with the longest spin time wins. Hanukkah carols will be sung by the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus, and rock will be provided by Hanukkah Gone Metal with Gods of Fire. If you want to compete, slots will be available at the event, but it’s recommended that contestants sign up in advance on the MLD website to be guaranteed a turn. The grand prize is certainly sweet: a year’s supply of chocolate gelt and a crystal trophy shaped like—what else?—a dreidel.
