There’s an amount of precociousness that accompanies many young talents’ quick ascents to recognition, and the author Tao Lin, all of 27, has a touch of it. Upon the release of the Brooklynite’s first novel, Eeeee Eee Eeee, in 2007, Gawker called him “maybe perhaps the single most irritating person we’ve ever had to deal with.” His latest, Richard Yates, follows a pair of Internet friends who mainly communicate through Gchat. Their names are Haley Joel Osment and Dakota Fanning. Decide for yourself if Lin is too twee for his own good at apexart’s Almost Famous Reading Series. Also on the bill are Aaron Garretson, John Haskell, Fiona Maazel, Syreeta McFadden, and Emma Straub.
