Paul Di'Anno

Di'Anno was the frontman for headbanging legends Iron Maiden on their first two full-lengths. Then they kicked him out in 1981 for indulging in the rock-star lifestyle too much and becoming unreliable. However, the two records he did with the band were masterpieces: his gravelly voice gave Maiden a tough sound, and his short haircut and biker duds gave the band an image that fit punk better than metal. The three decades since his departure have been unkind (he's fronted a number of bands named after Maiden songs), but at least he still has that voice. With Icarus Witch and Shitkill.
