Dir. Sergio Leone (1969).
Sergio Leone considered this his Western to end all Westernsa ballet of the deadand there is nothing like it. As coaxed and teased by Ennio Morricones twanging melange of slowed-down Neapolitan street songs, ye-ye, choral requiems, and Ventures guitar licks, the film is constantly readjusting its thermostat, from self-parody to nostalgia, from myth-mongering to spectacle.
