BRING THE THUNDER

The Red Storm hosts the Hoyas

The Georgetown Hoyas and the St. John’s Red Storm have a long-standing rivalry since the 1980s, when John Thompson and Lou Carnesecca ruled Eastern college hoops. But in recent years, both teams have struggled to rebound in the always-tough Big East. This may be the Hoyas’ year as they’ve broken into the top 10. Watch for senior guards Chris Wright, who has already been named Big East Player of the Week, and Austin Freeman, who is consistently in the Big East’s top five in scoring. And, by the way, the Hoyas coach is John Thompson III—must be in the genes. For the Red Storm, senior guard Dwight Hardy is charging the court. In a recent win over Davidson, the Bronx native and the team’s leading scorer, made three free throws in the final 16.8 seconds to win the game. There should be fireworks, and this is quality hoops at a good price.
