Never Let Me Go

Dir. Mark Romanek (2010). Pervaded by a cosmic wistfulness, this smooth, if unsubtle, adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro's massively praised novel is more melancholy than haunting. The surface blandness does not efface, and might even amplify, its disturbing qualities and, however genteel, the movie is distinguished by a strong cast.
