Casino Jackis not a film version of Boardwalk Empire. No, there were no Atlantic City shenanigans (as far as we know . . . ) when D.C. businessman Jack Abramoff got himself convicted in 2006, along with a slew of White House officials, congressional staffers, lobbyists, and a Congressman, in a colossal corruption scandal concerning tribal gaming. The new film, inspired by those real-life events, stars Kevin Spacey, who will speak tonight after a special screening, part of 92Y’s “Reel Pieces” series. Though the film has garnered only mixed reviews, Spacey, as the crooked Abramoff, has scored a Golden Globe nomination.
