Park Slope parents Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, last seen together Off-Broadway in Classic Stage Company’s 2009 production of Uncle Vanya, return to CSC to put on another Chekhov masterpiece, Three Sisters. The story concerns privileged sisters Olga, Masha, and Irina who long to return to city life in Moscow after 11 years in a small, bland town. Gyllenhaal plays the no-nonsense Masha, who falls for a handsome Russian soldier who befriends the sisters (that would be Sarsgaard, of course). Austin Pendleton directs the impressive and quite attractive cast, including Jessica Hecht, Obie winner Juliet Rylance, Marin Ireland, and Josh Hamilton. Previews begin January 12, opens February 3, through February 20, Classic Stage Company, 136 East 13th Street, 212-352-3101, classicstage.org, $75–$80
