THE BEST THING

A gathering of Doveman and pals

As a New York–based keyboardist who has collaborated with the likes of Martha Wainwright, the National, Yoko Ono, and David Byrne, Thomas Bartlett has cultivated an impressive circle of hipster-fave musician pals, many of whom appeared on The Conformist, Bartlett’s pretty, slightly unsettling 2009 art-folk disc under the name Doveman. Tonight, Beth Orton, Sam Amidon, and Glen Hansard (of the Frames and Swell Season) are due to show up for the first installment of what Bartlett is calling the Burgundy Stain Sessions. Expect loads of pretty, slightly unsettling art-folk tunes—as well as an unadvertised guest or two.
