John McCauley & Ian O'Neil

With his indie-folk group Deer Tick, frontman John McCauley rasps and whines about life's disappointments, his Chloraseptic-friendly raw-throat moments often sounding like Golden Era folkie Barry McGuire. He cites his childhood musical influences to be Roy Orbison and Ritchie Valens, but as an adult, he's become something quite the opposite. Tonight, he and Deer Tick guitarist Ian O'Neil will play a stripped-down acoustic set, but with a voice like his, don't expect anything subdued. With the Shivers.
