Dir. Samuel Fuller (1982).
Filmed in headlines, framed as allegory, Sam Fullers last great movie combines hard-boiled sentimentality and hysterical violence, sometimes in the same take. White Dog naturalizes racism in a striking unnatural way. While the movies white characters are invariably amazed by the whole idea of a white dog, the black characters treat its existence as a brute fact of life.
