Kiss Each Other Clean initially sounds like a terrifically off-putting action, albeit the kind Vince Neil could really get into. Yet the album (out this week) comes from the beatific/bearded mug of Sam Beam (a/k/a Iron & Wine), so we are jaded and disgusting, clearly, with our minds in the gutter. This is because the lithely whispering folk singer/songwriter is as sweet and elegant as the genre gets, a swooning romantic even in his harder-strumming jam moments (see 2007s The Shepherds Dog). Beams purr is so gentle, its hard to imagine him ever seeing the dirt, let alone getting down into it. With Edie Brickell.
