Cloak and Dagger

Dir. Fritz Lang (1946). Truncated by its studio, Lang’s postwar statement didn’t pack the wallop that it might have, but the notion of Gary Cooper as a two-fisted Robert Oppenheimer sent behind enemy lines by the OSS is a good one—and the script, by two future members of the Hollywood 10, is rife with red Pop Frontism.
