For anyone who has experienced the pleasure (and, OK, mostly pain) of planning a wedding, cartoonist Adrian Tomines autobiographical Scenes From an Impending Marriage will surely resonate all too well. Theres Tomine hunched over his invitations, meticulously addressing each one with a calligraphy pen (for three days!). Theres the requisite awkward dance lesson. And, for those who are particular about their taste in music, theres the awkward conversation with the DJ, who tells the beleaguered couple that they should just get an iPod if they dont like her song suggestions (such as Bob Segers Old Time Rock and Roll). Tonight, Tomine, a contributor to The New Yorker, tells author Leanne Shapton what he learned from the experience.
