HARDCORE LOVE

Cupcakes and Fucked Up—what could be better?

Toronto’s Fucked Up aren’t as unlikely a booking for a Valentine’s Day gig as you might expect: Don’t forget that The Chemistry of Modern Life, the experimental hardcore band’s most recent studio disc, opens with a sweet flute solo. Tonight, they headline NYU’s so-called F**king Valentine’s Day Show, “a celebration of a terrible holiday” promised to include both moshing and cupcakes; expect some non-ironic love talk from Fucked Up frontman Damian Abraham. Other acts on the bill include fellow Canadians DD/MM/YYYY and Baltimore art-punks Double Dagger, as well as Westchester County’s premier band of psych-slop brothers, No One and the Somebodies.
