I heard a few of the Philly keyboard maestro's thick, engaging tunes last month, and jotted down the word "vortex" in my notebook. That's because their swirling momentum kept pulling everyone in the room a bit closer to the stage. For this new band, Mitchell unites a who's who of local heroes (Berne, Halvorson, Noriega, Fujiwara, Hebert). Bet their debut brings focus to a fierce brand of poised expressionism.
