Alexander Nevsky

Dir. Sergei Eisenstein (1938). On the eve of World War II, Sergei Eisenstein produced his first completed sound film and lone Stalinist hit—a medieval pageant in which the Teutonic knights attempt to invade the Kingdom of Muscovy. The director worked so closely with composer Sergei Prokofiev, the movie is virtual an animated cartoon.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 16. Continues through Feb. 18, 2011
